I welcome the opportunity to dance in the rain with you … to explore the storms that have marred your life and prevented you from knowing joy. To help you discover the beauty of the storm, and perhaps more importantly, become empowered to weather present and future storms.
Personal pain takes many forms: relationships that are a little off, and need realignment, or completely broken requiring redesign. Your pain may take the form of depression, anxiety, confusion, hopelessness, discouragement, loneliness, grief, fear, night terrors, or traumatic memories that will not be stilled. My education and experience have prepared me to explore solutions with you.
I’ve always had the heart of a healer, as a pharmacist, clinical pastoral counsellor and now psychologist. I spent three years in Pastoral Care and Counselling at the Royal Alexander Hospital, and have worked or volunteered at many not for profit organizations.
My education and experience have prepared me to journey with you. I have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a Marriage and Family Therapist with Clinical Fellow Designation with American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
However, life experiences may have been my greatest education. I have experienced enough personal heartache to keep me humble, and seen enough changes in life situations to keep me hopeful. I look forward to dancing in the rain with you.
I work from a collaborative approach, primarily person-centered, and cognitive behavioural therapy. Also drawing from solution focused and narrative therapy. With couples I use Gottman’s theory, and draw from the work of Brent Atkinson. For those of you who have a trauma story, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR, and Critical Incident Stress Management, CISM, an intervention protocol developed specifically for dealing with traumatic events.
